Soulful Art: Where Creativity Meets the Spirit of Janmashtami

Janmashtami 2026 · Soulful Art

Modern School celebrated Janmashtami on 3 September 2026 with Soulful Art, bringing together creativity, culture and the joyous spirit of Lord Krishna in a vibrant celebration across the school.

The day began with the Inter-House Art Competition, where students from Grades 3 to 12 worked in teams of 6–8 to give visual form to ideas that matter in the world around them. Exploring themes such as Environmental Awareness, Health & Well-being, Digital Awareness and Social Awareness, students used colour, composition and diverse artistic mediums to create works that were not only visually engaging but also carried meaningful messages. The collaborative format encouraged students to exchange ideas, think creatively and express a shared perspective through art.

The artistic energy then flowed into the Inter-House Jhanki and Rangoli Competitions, where students from Grades 3–5, 6–8 and 9–12 explored different phases of Lord Krishna’s life. Through thoughtfully created Jhankis, students recreated significant scenes and stories from Krishna’s journey, bringing them alive through expressive arrangements, costumes, props and visual storytelling. Alongside these displays, intricate Rangoli designs reflected the colours, symbols and cultural richness associated with Janmashtami.

Perhaps the most endearing sight of the day came from our Early Years students, who arrived dressed as little Radhas and Krishnas. Their colourful traditional attire and cheerful presence brought the festivities alive with the innocence and joy so closely associated with Krishna’s childhood.

The competitions were judged by Dr. Ankita Kumari, Ms. Pallavi Singh, Ms. Komal Modi, Mr. Vishal Gupta, Mr. Shikhar Chandra and Ms. Sandhya Yadav, whose thoughtful evaluation and appreciation encouraged the students and added significance to their efforts.
